How is the real estate market in Chicago and the Suburbs?
2023 has been a very interesting year so far for real estate in Chicago and the suburbs. Inventory has been at an all time low which has made it difficult for many buyers to find the right home. The suburbs of Chicago and many of the city neighborhoods have seen very high levels of demand, often resulting in multiple offers for single family homes, townhomes and duplex units. Many sellers have opted to remain in their current homes due to their locked in lower interest rates which has had a big impact on the inventory levels. The one exception has been the downtown Chicago markets, particularly the condo market, where buyers are seeing more options and sellers are experiencing downward pressure on pricing and experiencing longer market times.
